Thomas Schmutz

Thomas Schmutz, born in 1968, studied art history, political science and media studies in Bern, Basel and Chapel Hill (North Carolina, USA), and published his dissertation: “Das Material der Malerei. Handbücher für Künstler und Amateure 1780 bis 1850”. From 2004 to 2006 he was managing director of artworx gmbh, Basel, and from 2007 to 2009 director of art and cultural education and communication at the Centre-PasquArt and Museum Neuhaus, Biel; from 2009 to 2011 he worked as curator of the Museum Neuhaus, Biel. Since 2011 he has been deputy director and curator of the Aargauer Kunsthaus, Aarau.
