Helmut Hinrichsen

Helmut Hinrichsen, born in 1953, is a college-educated mathematician. Since 1977 he has lived in Iceland, where he first learned the language and earned his living in fish factories and on farms and fishing boats. Since 1978 he has worked as a teacher – and more recently in school administration – in Reykjavík. He also works part time as a tour guide and translator. He is the author of two illustrated books and has reviewed numerous films about Iceland.
